"Congressman Mike Garcia Heroism" with Pregnant Woman and her four Children - Beyond the Call of Duty

Congressman Mike Garcia has taken heroism to another level by helping a Pregnant Woman and her four children

On August 15, 2020, Saturday afternoon a house fire struck one of the historic homes in Lancaster, California, (formerly owned by Judy Garland, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and her family), at 44659  Cedar Avenue, that went up in flames.  The cause of fire is still under investigation, by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Sadly, persons residing in home lost everything due to the fire, got out with just the clothes on their backs and are now homeless, overnight.

Fortunately, unexpected rains came for minutes along with adamant Firefighters and Sheriff's to save the other adjacent historic home at 44665 Cedar Avenue, also once owned by Judy Garland and her family.

The second historic home, formerly owned by Judy Garland survived with one side of the house being scorched, shattered windows and more importantly no human lives were lost.

Congressman Mike Garcia, who I will just call “Congressional Hero Garcia,” when he learned of the house fire, he did not hesitate to step up and help the pregnant woman and her four children, who don’t even reside within his district.

Garcia learned the pregnant woman and her four children needed to be immediately evacuated due to health risk compounded by an adjacent historic home at risk of also going up in flames.

In less than 15 minutes after calling upon, Congressman Garcia asked me for the pregnant woman’s contact information, because he had “found emergency housing,” for her and four children, on a Saturday afternoon while other housing services are closed on weekends.

Congressman Mike Garcia of the 25th District, deserves a 2020 Lancaster, California, “Hero Humanitarian Award.”

Subsequently, this story would not be complete if hubbie and I did not also thank all the Firefighters and Lancaster Sheriff’s, that helped save the second historic home formerly owned by Judy Garland, now owned by us since 2009.

Now had both Los Angeles County Firefighters and Sheriff’s been “defunded,” there is no doubt the second home of Judy Garland, would have also gone up in flames.

"Defend not Defund," because Professional quality Firefighters and Sheriff’s do help to save lives and property!
